Easy Cheezy Pizzeria-Style Turkey Stromboli

What’s an Easy Cheezy Pizzeria-Style Turkey Stromboli?   It’s similar to a Calzone.  What’s that, you may ask?  They are both a spin on Pizza and both are delicious!

A Calzone is similar to a turn over.  In its size and the way it’s sealed.  You see the dough is rolled out in a round shape, filling added, and then folded over and crimped to seal it close.  Oh yeah, it also using ricotta cheese.

What's a Stromboli?

Our Easy Cheezy Pizzeria Style Turkey Stromboli is rolled and resembles a loaf of bread, and uses delicious cheese.  Once it’s rolled the seam is pinched together to seal as are the ends.  They are both yummy and oh so tasty.

What's in our Stromboli?

Pizzeria dough, either use our No-Fail, No-Yeast, No-Cook Pizza Dough Recipe or purchase pre-packaged pizza dough, like Pillsbury.  (Foto Visualista has no affiliations with Pillsbury or Lee Kum Kee.)

Other ingredients include; Lee Kum Kee Sriracha Mayo Spread, diced green chilies, sliced deli turkey, shredded Mozzarella and Colby/Monterey jack blend.  Dry ingredients include; black pepper, fine sea salt, seasoning salt, garlic powder and onion powder.

Easy To Make

This cheezy pizzeria-style dish comes together quickly, and we’ve used it as an appetizer, lunch or dinner.   In many ways, it reminds me of a spin on a sub sandwich.  It is also, easily customized by switching out turkey for another deli meat, and adding in basil, spinach or one of many other ingredients.

Let's get started

Do yourself a favor and line your work surface with parchment paper and sprinkle a little flour on top to help prevent sticking.  Also, line you baking tray to prevent sticking during baking.  Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

The Pizzeria-Style Dough

The quickest and easiest way to whip this up is with pre-made pizza dough.  But, our No-Fail, No-Yeast, No-Cook Pizza Dough Recipe kicks this up to a new level of deliciousness.  Oh my, just the thought of that yummy recipe distracts me.

Sprinkle your parchment paper lined work surface with flour and gently unroll your dough and using your fingers, gently press the dough into a rectangle.  Just be cautious and don’t spread it out too thin or puncture any holes in the dough.

Let's spread on some Sriracha

Because we like a little spice with our easy, cheezy, pizzeria-style turkey stromboli we kick it up by spreading on some spicy sriracha.  Plus, we know we’ll  be adding a bit of cool with our ranch dressing dip… But, more about that in  just a bit.

Next up diced green chili and Deli Turkey

We use a small can of diced green chili.  Be sure to drain away the juice, as you don’t want to add moisture to the stromboli.  Once it’s thoroughly drained spread them evenly across your pizza dough.

I’m telling you this recipe is so easily customized that you could substitute or add any deli meat you favor.  Our preference is sliced deli turkey.  We spread it evenly across the pizza dough.

Next, add a little flavor by sprinkling the dry seasonings over your turkey.  Then top it with delicious mozzarella and the colby/monterey jack cheeses.

Roll'n it up

This is when you’ll thank me for covering your work surface with parchment paper.  Lift your parchment paper and roll it over to start the stromboli rolling.  Why is the first roll always challenging?  Once you get the roll going be sure to keep it fairly tight.  Using your fingers pinch the seam together, as well as, the ends.

Place your Easy, Cheezy Pizzeria-Style Turkey Stromboli into your pre-heated 400 degree oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until it’s done and a golden color.  Once baked allow it to cool 10-15 minutes before eating.  Serve it with your favorite pizza sauce, like our No Cook Pizza Sauce, or our delicious Ranch Dip/Dressing.
